ibook power adapter doesn’t fit my ibook?
It won’t go in all the way. I have the Apple 65 W power adapter, and I bought a used ibook that came with a battery just no power cord, and it still won’t work. The cord doesn’t seem to fit all the way, though, and I bought it from the apple store. Can anyone help me?
There’s probably a piece of the old cord stuck in your iBook.
A common problem with the old-style power cords was that the tip of the center post would snap off inside the connector and get stuck inside when the cord got tripped over (or otherwise snagged in a sideways direction). Unfortunately they’re hard to get out once they’re jammed in there (this was a BIG reason why Apple moved to the Magsafe connectors for the MacBook line).
The only way to fix it is to get the broken bit out without damaging it worse.

and follow the instructions for “DC-In board”
once you have it out you need to carefully pull back the metal tab that is in the center on the back of the DC Socket so you can get in there with a small screwdriver and pop out the broken piece. Or you can just replace the entire DC-In board (easier, but not free and may be hard to find since the iBooks are so old these days)
It’s either that or take it to a repair center and hope they don’t charge an arm and a leg to fix it…
